2024 Commodore’s Message 

Ahoy to all SSC Members, Returning Members, and Prospective Members

A new year is here!  We bid a hearty welcome to you and to all the many possibilities that will be ours to unwrap in this new year. The Shoreline Sailing Club is celebrating 40+ years of sailing and social fun for single adults, 35 and over.  Our main focus is to match skippers with boats who seek crew to go sailing and boating.  The club was founded by two women, one a sailor and one a power boater, who were looking for crew.  Forty-plus years on, sails may be for an evening, for a raft up, for the day, for weekends, and sometimes even for several weeks at a time. 

There will be sailing and boating events, delicious and joyful times together, and most likely, quite a few laughs. 

If you are new to our site, welcome; we hope you join our club and enjoy all the privileges of membership.  Our teams are collaborative and our main goal is to connect skippers and crew so we can all enjoy the many wonders of the sea.  If you need to be on the water as much as our members, this is the place for you!  Follow us on Facebook and Meet-up for events and announcements.  Better yet, bookmark this website and check in often to learn about meetings.

The good news is that the vaccines, boosters, and time have helped us trend toward a new normal.  The new normal may not be here just yet, and as that great sage Yogi Berra said, “It ain’t over until it’s over.”  And no, it ain’t entirely over yet.  As that other great saying goes, “Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...”  No matter, as a club, we will prevail.  Until we return to that place of implicit safety, we will continue to rely on our terrific volunteers to plan and carry out 2024 activities safely as we move into the future.  We continue to meet indoors in person at Clark Field in Old Saybrook (across from Pasta Vita) to talk sailing and boating, occasionally with speakers, as well as socializing on our usual meeting dates, the first and third Thursdays, 7:00 - 9:30 or so.  InfoGusts and EBlasts will continue as always for members.
